Commercial Security Solutions...

Rollwright “A Series”

A traditional and affordable physical security solution designed to suit the markets most typical demands.

This is our most popular range of security roller shutter. Side Guides are fully galvanised with the thickness dependent upon the shutter width. The Curtain or “roll” is manufactured from traditional 75mm curled profile galvanised steel laths made up with plastic end-locks and finished with an “L” or inverted “T” section bottom rail. A full width pre-formed 20swg galvanised steel box cover is included as standard.

Operation

•  Manual Push / Pull (2.8 x 2.8mtr opening MAX)

•  Manual Chain Hoist (3.5 x 3.8mtr opening MAX)

•  Single-phase (240v) Electric

•  Three-phase (415v) Electric

When selecting the operation of a roller shutter it is important to consider the location of the opening, who will be using it and how often it will be used. For example, Three-phase (415v) Electric operation would be a consideration for a very large or highly used door on a “Goods In” area as more power is required due to the extra weight.

Lath Style

Solid steel curled lath, offers maximum protection and can be coated in a variety of colours
Perforated lath offers maximum in-store visibility and is ideal for many retail outlets, it also still offers the same high security

•  Solid (22, 20 & 18swg)

•  “Pin-hole” Perforated (22 & 20swg)

•  “In-line” or “Brick-bond” Punched (22 & 20swg)

Lath style depends on your preference. All laths are available in different gauges (swg), the lower the number, the thicker the gauge of steel used to make the lath. Thicker gauged steel laths are more resistant to attack and wind-loads but will cost more due to the higher quality of material used. Perforated or Punched laths are a consideration if window display or ventilation is important.

Finish

•  Galvanised.

•  Colour coated by means of Polyester Powder Coating to RAL or BS range.

•  “Accent” or “Masterline” range of Plastisol Coated laths.

As standard all materials are galvanised. Polyester Powder Coating is a colour coating process which requires a powder based substance to be baked on to the steel. It helps to protect the finish of the materials longer and can be matched to your corporate colours, building colour or personal preference.

Plastisol is a plastic coated finish available for the laths only but Side Guides, Bottom Rail and Box can be painted or Polyester Powder Coated similar. There is a limited range of colours and it is generally selected in seaside areas where the salt content of the air wears the galvanised steel more than normal.

Locking Options (Manual Operation)

•  2 x Bullet Locks
•  2 x Transverse Locks
•  1 x Transverse Locking System
•  1 x Ground Lock

Locking Options (Electrical Operation)
Electrically operated roller shutters automatically lock down into place; but it is a good idea that in vulnerable or quiet areas additional locks are added. Bullet Locks or Ground Locks can be added, however if the shutter was operated while these locks were in place then you could face serious damage to the motor, fortunately ROLLWRIGHT have developed a safety feature which eliminates this being a possibility, the MicroBlock system ensures that all locks are removed and placed into the appropriate housings before allowing the motor to become active. We can incorporate this system into any of our commercial or industrial security shutters.

Activation (Electric Operation)

Surface Mounted Key Switch

Surface Mounted Toggle Switch

Remote Control (up to 50 handsets, 2 supplied as standard)

Safety (Electric Operation)

•  Anti-drop Safety Brake Device (acts as an emergency brake in order to prevent personal injury).

•  Stop & Return Monitored Safety Beam Device (infra-red beam which reflects across the width of the shutter in order to detect an obstruction and stop operation of the shutter to help prevent damage or personal injury).

•  Stop & Return Safety Edge Device (an alternative or addition to the infra-red beam; this device requires pressure sensors in the bottom rail that stop operation of the shutter upon contact with an object).

Rollwright are committed to keeping up to date with the latest Health & Safety requirements. Employers are responsible for the Health & Safety of their employees and some roller shutter safety features are compulsory. Contact a member of our staff for information and advice.

Technical Information

Box Options
The box in which the curtain rolls up into is made from 3mm or 4mm thick galvanised steel, these are custom made dependent on the spec of the shutter and can be cut as follows in order to match the aesthetics of your property

.

The covering (hood) is also manufactured from galvanised steel which will be preformed and folded to suit the individual shutter box.

Fitting Options / General Layout

Below is an example of how a "face fixed" security shutter would be attached to the front of an opening. In many cases the guide rails would be buried approx 100mm into the ground, the guides are then fixed to the wall with the most suitable fixing.

Reveal fixed shutters are fitted when the shutter is required within an opening, as with face fixed, this can also be buried for added strength, and will be fitted using the most suitable fixing for the wall type.

.

As this is the most versatile type of shutter there are many more options available. Should you require more information, wish to arrange an appointment or request a quotation then please click the Contact Us page on this website.
